When playing girls’ softball, there might not be a more irritating and unusable part of your body than your hair. And to keep it out their faces, most girls make use of softball headbands. These do not only add convenience to fix up your hair while in the game, but it also acts as an extension of your style as a player.

Attire is an important factor in team games, especially softball, like the right softball sliding pads. This executes uniformity and style at the same time. You can just imagine when teams do not have a uniform, and the players themselves do not know where to pass the ball, or run to. It would surely be a great hassle for the game. And even though you cannot express your style in wearing jewelry and such, or wearing a different colored outfit, because it is not allowed in the game, you can still do so by using softball headbands. And instead of buying those expensive ones, you can either buy cheaper ones or make some, as a team, or by yourself.

Making it from Tape

One of the easiest and cheapest methods of making softball headbands is using athletic pre-wrap tape. And because it comes in a wide array of colors, there is surely one for your team. You can choose the color that matches, or even complements your team color. It is not like regular tape because it is not that sticky, rather, it has a consistency similar to foam, which is what helps it stay in play when wearing it. What you do is to just get a roll of athletic pre-wrap tape, and then take a long strip that would fit your head. After that, you can now tie it around your hair. You can even create wrist bands or arm bands from this material.

Bandanas as Headbands

When choosing to buy your softball headbands, you also opt for bandanas. They do not only come in a wide variety of colors and prints, but they can also be cheaper when bought in bulk. And to create softball headbands out of bandanas, what you do first is to lay it out flat on the table. Then, you make a triangle shape out of it by bringing two opposing corners together. After that, you take hold of the middle point of the base of the triangle, and then, you fold it inward until what would be left of it is a long strip of fabric. You can choose how thick and wide your bandana softball headbands are going to be. And lastly, you place the strip of fabric around your head and tie the ends so as to secure it.

Getting More Creative

And what may be the most creative way of making softball headbands is making glitter softball headbands. This is a popular trend in girls’ softball. And to make your own version of it for your own style or for the whole team you, first, have to get hold of a grosgrain ribbon and a velvet strip. After doing so, you glue hem together with a hot glue gun. The purpose of the velvet is to help keep the headband in place while it is being worn, since ribbons tend to be slippery and can be easily removed. When gluing, try to do it a section at a time so that you can avoid making messy softball headbands. Then what you have to do is to machine stitch or sew by hand two pieces of coated hair elastic to both ends of the headband. Then, you glue on more grosgrain ribbons to cover the seams. After that, you can now apply the glitter, and then dry it. And you can now wear your glitter softball headbands.

Creating your own style in what you wear is also important even in softball games. With softball headbands, you can also choose to wear your own funky softball socks or softball sunglasses. This can not only give you a sense of style, but also a boost in confidence in your game play.
